This policy explains, in more depth than the short section in our Terms of Service, how AYE Market enforces its rules โ including our Community Guidelines โ when an account or its content violates them.
1. Definitions
- Warning โ a notice telling you a specific listing or action violated our rules, with no other restriction on your account.
- Content removal โ a specific listing, message, review, or other piece of content is taken down; your account otherwise continues normally.
- Temporary suspension โ your account is restricted (for example, you can't post, message, or apply) for a defined period or until a specific condition is met.
- Permanent termination โ your account is permanently closed and you may not create a new one to continue using the Service.
2. The enforcement ladder
In most cases, enforcement escalates in proportion to the violation and its history โ we don't jump to termination for a first, low-severity issue:
- Warning โ for a first, minor issue, so you have a chance to correct course.
- Content removal โ the offending listing, message, or content is taken down.
- Temporary suspension โ for repeated or more serious issues, or when a warning and removal weren't enough.
- Permanent termination โ for confirmed serious violations, or repeated violations after suspension.
Some violations are severe enough to skip straight to a later step โ see Section 4.
3. What typically triggers what
| Violation type | Typical first action |
|---|---|
| Spam, duplicate, or mis-categorized listings | Warning and/or content removal; escalates to suspension if repeated. |
| Misleading listing details (price, condition, availability) | Content removal, with a warning; suspension if it appears deliberate or repeated. |
| Confirmed fraud or scam activity | Immediate suspension while we investigate, often followed by termination. |
| Harassment, hate speech, or threats toward another user | Content removal and suspension; termination for severe or repeated cases. |
| Repeated violations of any kind after a prior warning or suspension | Escalating severity, up to termination. |
| Exploitation, endangerment of a minor, or credible threats of violence | Immediate permanent termination โ no warning. |
This table describes typical outcomes, not a rigid formula โ our team weighs context, evidence, and history for every case.
4. Immediate termination, no warning
5. What happens to your listings and data
- Listings โ hidden or removed from public view as part of the enforcement action, so they no longer appear in search or category feeds.
- Account data โ not immediately purged. It is retained for a period consistent with our Data Retention Policy, primarily so we have an accurate record for legal compliance, fraud prevention, and to support any appeal you file.
- Conversations with other users โ remain visible to the other participant, consistent with how chat data is generally handled across the platform.
6. Duration of a suspension
A temporary suspension lasts for a period appropriate to the violation, or until a specific condition is resolved (for example, removing violating content or completing a review). We don't publish a single fixed length for every case, since severity and context vary; you'll be told the nature of the restriction where possible.
7. Reinstatement
An account may be reinstated once the underlying issue is resolved and, where relevant, our team is satisfied the behavior won't recur. Reinstatement after a suspension is not automatic in every case โ some situations are reviewed individually before access is restored.
8. This is not the same as deleting your own account
Suspension and termination are enforcement actions we take. Deleting your own account is a separate, user-initiated right that is always available regardless of your account's standing โ including while under review โ via Account Deletion.
9. Your right to appeal
If you believe a warning, content removal, suspension, or termination was made in error, you can contest it through our Appeals Process. Filing an appeal does not pause an active suspension automatically, but every appeal is genuinely reviewed by a person.
10. Governing law
This Account Suspension & Termination Policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our enforcement practices evolve. Material changes are reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
