1. Mission & Vision

Our mission is to give the people of Tigray a marketplace built specifically for how they actually buy, sell, and hire โ€” not a generic app adapted after the fact. Every listing, every language, every safety feature is designed around one region, done properly, rather than a whole country, done thinly.

Our vision is a Tigray where finding a job, hiring for one, buying a car, selling a phone, or renting an apartment doesn't depend on who you happen to know or which Telegram group you're in โ€” where a trustworthy, local, free-to-use platform is simply the obvious place to start.

2. Our Story

Before AYE Market, buying and selling locally in Tigray mostly meant word of mouth, scattered Telegram groups, and community noticeboards โ€” real activity, but no shared, searchable, trustworthy place to do it. Nothing was built around the region's own languages, its real administrative geography (region, zone, wereda, tabiya), or the way people here actually get in touch โ€” a phone call, a WhatsApp message, a walk-in visit.

AYE Market started as a focused answer to that gap: a marketplace app built first in Tigrinya and Amharic (not translated as an afterthought), with a location system that understands a tabiya the way a resident does, and a jobs platform sitting alongside the classifieds โ€” because in Tigray, "I need a phone" and "I need a job" are often searched by the same person, on the same day, in the same app.

6. Our Commitment

Safety. Human-reviewed ID verification, active moderation against published Community Guidelines, one-tap reporting, and a full Safety Center guiding safe trading practices.

Innovation. A modern, fast, Firebase-backed app with real-time chat, GPS-aware search, smart notifications, and a genuinely bilingual-plus experience โ€” built and maintained by an active local engineering team, not outsourced or abandoned after launch.

Transparency. Clear, detailed policies covering exactly how the platform works, what data is collected and why, and how enforcement decisions are made and can be appealed โ€” see our Legal Hub.

Community. AYE Market grows from the people who use it. Feedback submitted in-app (Settings โ†’ Feedback) or by email shapes what gets built next.

7. Our Technology

AYE Market is a native Android app built with Flutter, backed by Google Firebase for authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), file storage, server-side logic (Cloud Functions), and push notifications (Cloud Messaging). There is no third-party advertising SDK, no third-party analytics SDK, and no data broker involved โ€” see our Third-Party Services page for the complete list of every external service the app uses, with nothing left out.

8. Languages & Countries

Languages supported: Tigrinya (แ‰ตแŒแˆญแŠ›), Amharic (แŠ แˆ›แˆญแŠ›), and English โ€” fully translated across every screen, form, and notification, switchable anytime in Settings.

Where we operate: AYE Market currently serves Tigray, Ethiopia. This is a deliberate choice, not a limitation we haven't gotten to yet โ€” we're building the experience deeply for one region before expanding. Expansion to additional Ethiopian regions is on our roadmap once the core experience is proven at scale.
